District of Lillooet - New Visitor Kiosk Update

January 05, 2015

Station Hill Tourist Information Kiosk

Due to the early freeze we were unable to get the concrete base, landscaping and the rock feature finished. As soon as the weather warms up we will get these items completed. Additional information panels are also planned which will feature the colorful history of this region. There is no electricity at the site so we are trying to find a solar solution for lighting.

In addition, the District of Lillooet has leased the BC Rail property on the south side of the Cemetery and applied for a CN EcoConexions grant in order to naturalize the landscape. It will be the perfect spot for visitors to sit and enjoy the view or have a picnic. Two large Willow trees on the property were a hazard and had to be removed but they will be replaced with large, fast growing trees in the spring. Lovely natural paths will be created with plaques about the local history, culture and geography. Local families will also have the opportunity to sponsor benches or art.

If you would like to sponsor a bench, plaque, art or if you would like to participate in the Station Hill project please contact Margaret Hohner mhohner@lillooetbc.ca.
